Description
The Church of Sant’ Emidio, in the hamlet of Popoli, was built in the eighteenth century in memory of the deadly earthquakes of that century.
It houses a painting of St. Emidio protecting the factories from the fury of the earthquake. Another small painting shows St. Anthony Abbot holding a bell and fire. A painting by a Roman painter dated between the eighteenth and nineteenth century depicts an elegant Madonna with an aristocratic face and a naked Child playing with the rosary crown.
